Following the visit in 2014, the PIA members recently returned to Addis Ababa on 18-19 March 2015 to reconnect with the public and private sector of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

During their visit the PIA delegation was received in the Presidential Palace by H.E. Dr Mulatu Teshome, President of Ethiopia. The members also met with the Ethiopian State Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Industry, the Ethiopian Investment Commission, and the Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA), to gain insights into evolutions of sectors and projects vis-à-vis last year.

In addition, the group met with several representatives of the African Union, including H.E. Mrs. Aicha Abdullahi, Commissioner of Political Affairs and H.E. Dr. Anthony Mothae Maruping, Commissioner of Economic Affairs, both expressing their willingness to engage with the private sector as a true and active partner in tackling poverty through development. The group also had constructive meetings with the World Bank, IFC and AfDB regional representatives and met with several Ethiopian private sector representatives to discuss private sector development in Ethiopia.

Moving forward, the PIA group will continue to actively collaborate and engage with the Ethiopian government in the interest of driving inclusive private sector development in Ethiopia.
