PIA visit to Washington

On June 20-22, the PIA executives held their annual meetings with the Bretton Woods and other key institutions in Washington, DC.

The group met with several high-ranking officials including: Luc Dresse, Alternate Executive Director, IMF; Stephanie von Friedeburg, Chief Operating Officer IFC ; Abebe Adugna and Humberto Lopez, Region directors, World Bank as well as Ervin Massinga, US Department of State.

During the high-level meetings constructive discussions were held regarding the various institutions’ strategies and plans to support the continent. The institutions shared their views on the current economic and geo-political situation on the continent and how the private sector can contribute to building resilience.

In these challenging times for Africa, more than ever, public institutions seek for strong public-private partnerships.

Participants expressed their common wish to touch base more regularly in a continued effort to share best practices.
