From 8-9 June 2017, the PIA executives held their annual meetings with the Bretton Woods and other key international institutions in Washington, DC.

From 8-9 June 2017, the PIA executives held their annual meetings with the Bretton Woods and other key international institutions in Washington, DC.

The group met with high ranking officials including David Lipton, First Deputy Managing Director IMF; Makhtar Diop, VP for Africa World Bank; Saran G. Kebet-Koulibaly, VP IFC; Peter Barlerin, Bureau of African Affairs, US State Department and Teresa Carlson Amazon Web Services, Worldwide Public Sector.

The visit was highly instructive as it provided an update on US Foreign Policy towards Africa as well as the outlook and strategy for the IMF, World Bank and IFC for the continent. A key focus area of discussion was despite challenges there remained medium term optimism for Africa and key to this was private sector collaboration and investment.
