How we work

The PIA acts as a private sector sounding board towards international institutions such as the World Bank Group, International Monetary Fund (IMF), and European Union with regards to matters concerning the African continent. In addition to this, the PIA executive members meet with the institutions at least once a year to further dialogue between the PIA companies and institutions on activities regarding the four focus areas. These meetings are designed to facilitate cooperation between the private sector and the international community to help African nations develop a positive business environment.

The activities of PIA fall into three main categories:

  • Advocacy towards public institutions and national governments
  • Best practice sharing (including dedicated task forces)
  • Networking opportunities and external forums
